CONTEXT: Customer wanted us to develop a 3D printer to use in their labs to build plastic parts for new product developments.

SOLUTION: Avench systems built a 3D printer with an open source merlin firmware and arduino control board as the basic components.

KEY SUCCESS FACT: The printable area of 500mm cube was the most important factor which called for use of custom designed motor drivers for improved distance of movement.

Smart Card Embedding Machine

CONTEXT: Customer needed an automate machine for manufacturing smart cards.

SOLUTION: Avench developed a complete system which would embed the smart chip on the plastic card and do a heat bonding to complete the manufacturing process.

KEY SUCCESS FACT: The throughput of number of cards manufactured per minute and the defect count were the key to success which was achieved by use of rugged electronics and Festo pneumatic components.

Rice Sorting Machine

CONTEXT: A Rice sorting machine OEM wanted Avench Systems to develop the electronics for rice sorting machine using FPGAs in order to achieve reliability and improved performance for their machines.

SOLUTION: Avench Systems developed the end to end electronics for a rice sorting machine with solenoid boards, line scan cameras, a power sequencing board and a vibrator board.

KEY SUCCESS FACT: The key challenge in developing a rice sorting machine is to achieve the color sensing and the ability to distinguish between minor color variations. This was done by implementing sorting algorithms on Xilinx FPGAs.

Tensile Testing Machine

CONTEXT: Customer needed a way to test the tensile strength of cigarette buds those are made by sticking two ends of a very thin paper strip.

SOLUTION: Avench systems built a PC based tensile testing machine which would record the test results for each test and save them in a database for future reference.

KEY SUCCESS FACT: The accuracy of measurement and easy calibration were the two key factors which contributed to the success of developing this machine.

Remote Boiler Temperature Controller

CONTEXT: Customer wanted us to make a remote temperature monitoring system to work in industrial environment to monitor their boilers.

SOLUTION: Developed a microcontroller based industrial controller to monitor and control the temperature of multiple boilers in the factory.

KEY SUCCESS FACT: The highly reliabile system was implemented using a low power controller and the communication was implemented using a low power wireless technologies.

Automated Test Equipment (ATE) Robot

CONTEXT: Customer wanted a robotic arm to pick and place the test units on the test board with 0.1 mm accuracy and interface with the ATE for test sequencing.

SOLUTION: Delivered a 3 axis robotic arm using real time embedded Linux to run 24x7 automated testing in production line.

KEY SUCCESS FACT: The accuracy of movement and self calibration were the key factors which decided viability of the project. Avench implemented the systems using RTOS and rugged embedded hardware.

Automatic Test Jig For ATM Controller Board

CONTEXT: Customer wanted a high speed test jig for PCBA functional testing in production line.

SOLUTION: Developed a pneumatic Bed of nails test jig system with all the necessary data acquisition and analysis using Labview and test bench.

KEY SUCCESS FACT: Avench engineering team quickly ramped on the functionality of the board and completed the test codes which will pinpoint the area of failure on the board within seconds of test process.
